Staff Development

Orientation

An orientation session is provided for new employees in which the superintendent’s staff acquaints each new employee with school system philosophy and policies of the Board.  The principal or appropriate supervisor provides orientation in the job assignment.

In-Service Education

The School Board provides days in the school calendar to be used by the central office for professional growth of teachers and days for the principal to use for addressing the instructional needs of the school.  Appropriate in-service programs are planned for all support personnel.

Professional Staff Meeting

The Superintendent schedules regular meetings for the central office staff and principals.  The principals schedule regular meetings for their faculties and staff.

Evaluation

It is the belief of the School Board that evaluation procedures should be positive and directed toward the improvement of the employee’s skills.  With that in mind, each employee is evaluated periodically in accordance with policies and bargained agreements approved by the School Board.
