The Crescent Cooperative Preschool is not run by Crescent School District, but through Peninsula College.

Crescent Cooperative Preschool - Opportunities for Ages 3 to 5 Years

Research shows that investment in early education pays extremely high returns. It improves not only children’s cognitive abilities but also crucial behavior traits like sociability, motivation and self-esteem. The Crescent Cooperative Preschool is a non-profit organization operated by parents with children enrolled in the program. There is open enrollment as long as space is available.  Preschool students, ages 3-5 years, meet two to four times a week – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – from 8-11 a.m. All classes are held on the Crescent campus in portable 2. Co-op parents participate in the program by working in the classroom; attend monthly parent meetings; help with fundraising and taking on tasks to help the preschool run smoothly; and receive credit through Peninsula College while enhancing parenting skills.

The preschool is taught by Susan Hopper who has a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and has taught children ages 1-6 in either a preschool or kindergarten setting for over 40 years. She has been teaching at the Crescent Cooperative Preschool for 20 years and has been a parent educator with Peninsula College for 18 years. On alternate days class is taught by Lindy Thomas, who has an Early Childhood Education Degree and has been teaching for 8 years.
Their program is played-based, and follows the interest of the children.

Registration is $40. per year. Tuition is $74 per month for preschool two days a week; $95 per month for three days a week; $116 per month for four days a week.  There are some scholarships available. Preschool children with an IEP will have alternative arrangements in consultation with the teacher.  For more information or to attend class for a day to try it out, please call teacher Lindy Thomas 360-305-0092.
